Digital PR Director

We are looking for an experienced Digital PR Director to join our award-winning Digital PR team here at Propellernet.   

 

Our Digital PR team are behind some wonderfully fun and creative ideas that get online media talking. We’ve launched a pumpkin spiced latte spa, used science to discover the bluest waters in the world and given spurned lovers the chance to ‘scrap’ their ex.  

 

You’ll be involved in all of this, from coming up with creative ideas to securing coverage on some of the biggest websites in the world. Alongside your client work, you’ll also be part of the senior team in the Digital PR team with our Heads of PR, shaping our work as a whole and ensuring we are industry-leading and the team is happy.  

About you:

We are looking for someone who:  

  • Has at least five years’ experience in a Digital PR, PR or content marketing role 
  • Works well in a dynamic, creative and hard-working team 
  • Has a positive and proactive attitude and is happy to get stuck in to help bring ideas to life  
  • Delivers outstanding communications to the team and clients whether on the phone, in a presentation or writing an email 
  • Brings plenty of enthusiasm and creativity to ideas sessions, and never holds back when they think they have an amazing idea 
  • Has an in depth understanding of SEO and the importance of digital PR  
  • Has a keen interest in pop culture and how it can be used from a marketing and PR perspective 
  • Has a proven track record of mentoring and developing more junior team members  
  • Shares examples of great campaigns and industry trends with the team to demonstrate their knowledge and passion for the Digital PR and wider SEO industry 
  • Is familiar with software and tools such as Buzzstream, Ahrefs, Buzzsumo, Google Search Console    

About the role:

As a Digital PR Director at Propellernet you’ll be handling a range of clients as well as contributing fully to the ongoing development and success of the team and agency. Your day-to-day tasks will include:  

Client work:

  • Creating and leading on Digital PR strategies for a range of clients, ensuring that our work is successful in meeting the goals and objectives (e.g. link relevance and quality, SEO ranking improvements, certain target publications) 
  • Managing and planning all work with your client teams, delegating tasks to the team and ensuring all deadlines are met  
  • Offering feedback in the moment to aid the development of team members  
  • Building and maintaining excellent client relationships, spotting new opportunities for clients to achieve their SEO goals 
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and rapport-building skills. Can talk confidently to a range of clients and positively influence their decision-making  
  • Leading on and inspiring the team to create exciting and compelling Digital PR ideas that appeal to a wide range of online media 
  • Ensuring that we are always challenging ourselves to do the most creative exciting and inspirational work possible by honing and tweaking ideas  
  • Creating killer media lists that include contacts from the UK and around the world using several contact-finding techniques (not just media databases) 
  • Pitching campaigns, product and expert comment to journalists, knowing how to best write pitches to secure links back to your client’s website 
  • Using tools like Ahrefs, Buzzsumo and Buzzstream to help with ideas, coverage tracking and analysing campaign performance 
  • Working with data analysts, designers, photographers and videographers to create campaign assets   
  • Being the internal sign off point for all PR materials on the accounts you manage including campaign assets, press releases, onsite content and pitch emails  
  • Keeping abreast of trending news stories and reactive news generation opportunities for clients 
  • Understanding your clients’ brand and their industry thoroughly and ensuring other team members understand these too  
  • Overseeing and reviewing reporting and measurement of the impact of our work  
  • Ensuring the accounts you manage are profitable and run efficiently  

Team development:

  • Leading the team to develop, define and execute new ideas and initiatives that make our work better 
  • Being proactive in spotting any gaps in our digital PR offering and finding solutions on how to address this 
  • Providing advice and guidance to team members on creative ideas, pitching to journalists or client comms 
  • Mentoring one or more team members, this includes overseeing their growth, goals and personal development   
  • Leading new business pitches 

Agency work:

  • Assisting with marketing the agency (specifically our digital PR work) through blog posts or social posts 
  • Contributing to thought leadership within the industry by sourcing speaking opportunities and attending relevant events on and offline  

Location:  UK remote or Brighton-based  

Our working policy is ‘work where you do your best work’, whether that’s in our Brighton office, at your home, in a café or on a beach. We’re interested in the quality of the work you produce, not where you are while you’re doing it.  

Our office is based in the centre of Brighton with a view of Brighton Pavilion and is just a one-minute walk from the beach. It’s set up with hot desks so that anyone who wants to work in the office can. We also have a co-working space in central London that can be used throughout the week.

Our preference is for someone to be in the office once a week but, at minimum, if you aren’t Brighton based, we do expect you to join your team at least once a month in the office for face-to-face training and catch ups.   You’ll also be expected to travel to client or team meetings from time to time.
 

Salary: £50,000+ dependent on experience.
